I am not new to this, and some of you may know me from my long-time blog titled ‘Bookshelves & Paperbacks.’ After a long period of silence, I made the decision to start blogging again – but on a whole new site. Here I am: starting from scratch, building everything from the ground up, hoping to re-ignite my love for reading and the blogging community again. This time, I will do things a little different.
I started blogging six years ago when I was nineteen. I started because I thought it would be a fun, cathartic way to put my thoughts about books into words, to share them with a community that partook in my tastes and interests. And it was certainly fun for a brief time, but when I started treating my old website as if it were a part-time job, pushing myself to post X amount of times a week, it was no longer fun. I burnt myself out so spectacularly that I quit the site altogether, returning once in a blue moon to let my followers know I was alive.
This time, I plan to go easy on myself. I plan to post when I have something to say and not feel guilty when I don’t. You won’t hear from me regularly, but you will hear from me more often than before. On my previous blog, my posts were haphazard as I desperately attempted to fill the days where I was not posting. That won’t be the case. I hope to have a purpose for everything I post, and I hope to emphasize quality over the volume of my content.
As for the blog itself, truly, it’s nothing groundbreaking. You’ll find book reviews, recommendation lists, discussion posts, and information on future releases. I read lots of fantasy, but I’m branching out and reading more thrillers and horror as well. Sometimes, I might post about other things I want to talk about, like films or TV series or life in general. Above all, I really hope to be better at interacting and engaging with the people who read my content. I was awful at that last time, and I’ll do better.
My old blog still exists with all the content I have ever posted housed quietly on it. I couldn’t bring myself to delete six years worth of work – so all the reviews, all the discussion posts, all the haphazard chaotic filler is all there if you’d like to check it out. Otherwise, this is where you’ll find me from now on.
So, with that out of the way… hello, I’m Aimal. It’s nice to meet you. 🙂

Hey, Aimal! Welcome back! I love the new blog! I especially love the name— The Devils We Find. So beautiful! It definitely fits with your beautiful aesthetic! I totally understand what you mean about treating your blog like a job and letting it become something that’s really stressful. That’s exactly what happened to me with my old blog, Novels & Waffles. I started a new book blog called The Bibliosmile for similar reasons to you, actually! Anyways, I’m so glad to see you’ve rediscovered your love of blogging and I wish you all the best going forward!!
